GOAL - SETTING

“Man ought always to have something that he prefers to life; otherwise life itself will seem to him tiresome and void.”--- Seume

Goal-less life is like a rudder-less ship. It has no aim and objective. It may reach somewhere or nowhere. It is no life at all! It is like a piece of rag that may be blown to any side by the passing winds. No goals and no achievements! No achievements and no success! No success and no thrill! Do you want such a life?

Obviously, you don’t want to lead such a goal-less and purposeless life! It is better to set a goal and fail to achieve it, rather than, not having a goal in life. Therefore, setting a goal is more important than achieving it. Just think about it!

Goal creates a vision! Goal sets a direction! Goal motivates a person! Goal keeps life moving! Goal gears up all the latent talents! Goal canalizes the energies! Goal gives a meaning to life! Do you want to set your goals right now?

Do you know your life goal? What is that you want to become in life? What is that you want to be after ten or twenty years? What do you want to achieve, ultimately, in life? Have you ever thought of it? If not, think of it now!

LONG TERM GOAL (LTG) is prone to change. It can’t be specific. It is a vision for a long period. It is a long-term plan based on many factors. But, it is very important. It is a dream that is to be realised. LTG is to be set basing on ones aptitude, aspiration and ambition. All that one has to do is to think of the LTG and set a time for it. Set your LTG today!

Medium Term Goal (MTG) is the forerunner of the Long Term Goal. In order to achieve the LTG, the medium term goals are to be achieved. MTG is that spans between today and five years from today. Jot down all the goals you want to achieve during the five years to come! These goals must be specific and time-bound. Fix a specific date for each goal to be achieved year-wise. Keep reviewing from time to time! Set your Medium Term Goals today!

Short Term Goal (STG) is the foundation for medium term goals. The success of medium term goals depends on the achievement of Short Term Goals. STG is that which is to achieved within a month or quarter or half-year or a year. These goals are to be more clear and specific. The planning is to be made meticulously and chronologically. The achievable goals are to be in the form of identifiable units. It should be supported by a work-chart or a PERT chart. It is to be more closely monitored. Prepare your STG chart today!

Mini Goal (MG) is the brick and mortar of short-term goals. It is the mini goals that make the short-term goals to be achieved. These are the goals that are to be realised in a week’s time or in a day. The success or failure of STG, MTG, and LTG depends on the fulfillment of the mini goals. These goals are to be quickly realised. They are visible and tangible. These goals are to be immediately followed by actions. Goal setting and goal achieving, almost, go hand in hand. Set your Mini goals and start working on them!

Micro Goal (MIG) is the foundation for the whole goal setting process. The success of all goals depends on the setting of micro goals. These are the goals that are related to today, now, this hour, this minute and this moment! What is that you want to achieve in life? Think of it now! Determine it now! Start working on your Micro Goals now! This minute! This second!

Imagine! Constructing a House is your LTG! Then, MTG is like roofing! LTG is like raising walls! MG is like plinth work and MIGS are the pile and pillar foundations. It is the goals that build personalities.

Self Awareness

SELF-AWARENESS
M.C.DAS
MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT
&
HRD TRAINER

“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”
-Mark Twain

Earth’s greatest treasure lies in its human beings! Everything on the face of the earth has come from the human brain. In the words of Lord Buddha, “We are the result of our own thoughts.” Every product and service in the world has its origin in the human thought. It is the thought that gets converted into material or service.

You strongly believe today that you will become something one day, you are sure to achieve it. All the inventions and innovations in this world are the results of strong beliefs and hard work. Edison strongly believed that he would a make an Electric Bulb, and he made it. Marconi very strongly believed that he would make a Radio, and he made it. So are all inventions and innovations in this world! Today, you think and believe that you would be able to achieve what you want to achieve!

Do you know about your own body?
It is the largest organisation with the best-managed systems in the world. There are 60 lakh crores of cells that work as employees in the body. Each cell has a specific duty to perform and it performs with perfection and punctuality. In a way, you are the Chairman and Managing Director of the biggest and best organisation in the world! Just think for a while!

Do you know that you have the best Computer in you?
There is no computer in the world, which is equal to the human brain! If a computer has to perform the normal jobs done by the human brain in one day, a computer of the size of the Newyork City is to be built! It is not an exaggeration! It is true! Further, brain is the most powerful instrument in the world. Nobody knows as to how powerful the human brain is? Nobody has ever utilised fully the capacity of the brain in the world. It is not possible also! Even a great scientist like Einstein is supposed to have utilised only 0.1 percent of the total power of the brain! Just imagine! How much of our brainpower we must have used?

Do you know that you have the best calculator in you?
There is no calculator in the world, which is equal to human eye! If a calculator has to make the calculations made by the eye in one hour, a calculator of the size of the Tokyo City is to be built! Human eye makes one million calculations in a fraction of a Second! Just reflect! How well are we using this fantastic tool?

Do you know that you have the best refinery in you?
There is no refinery in the world, which is parallel to human heart! With a ‘Lub’ it sucks bad blood and with a ‘Dub’ it purifies it. Further, it controls the largest ‘Transport System’ i.e. the Blood Circulatory System in the world! Blood travels a distance of 16,80,00,000 miles in 24 hours in the human body! Just think! How great your fist-sized heart is?

Do you know that you have the best Plant and Machinery in your body?
There is no plant in the world that can so instantaneously extract oxygen and leave out carbon dioxide from the air as the lungs do in our body! We have to set up a big oxygen plant and go through a long process to harness oxygen into the cylinders. What a wonderful mechanism it is? Just reflect on it!

Do you know that you have the greatest factory in your body?
There is no factory in the world that can convert food into blood like the stomach does! Idly, Vada, Dosa, Chicken, Mutton and what not, everything we dump into the belly is sincerely digested and converted into blood while pushing out all the waste material! What a fantastic system it is? Just ponder over it!

Do you know that you have the best Filtering Station in you?
There is no filtering system in the world, which is equal to the functioning of Kidneys in the human body. Each kidney has 12,00,000 filters that continuously filter the impurities and drain them out through nine major canals, the excretory organs and millions of minor outlets, the sweat pores! What an amazing system it is? Just think!

Do you know that you have the best Storehouse of ideas in you?
Nobody knows as to how big is the human mind! It is as big as the Space. Nobody knows as to how many ideas are there in it! Everything on the earth, from pin to rocket, has come from the human mind. Nothing has fallen from the sky! Oh! What a powerful mind we have? Just imagine!

Do you know that the Spirit is beyond your body and mind?
Its power is beyond our comprehension. It encompasses the whole universe. It puts the whole universe in you. It is deathless and indestructible. Let’s not touch it now! It is too big to talk about or even think about!

Do you know that you are on a planet that is sincere, honest and punctual?
Mother Earth, on which we are living, travels at a speed of 68,400 miles per hour and takes exactly 365.25 days to complete one revolution around the Sun. She travels at a speed of 1040 miles per hour and takes exactly 24 hours to complete one rotation on her own axis. No rest! No relaxation! How great Mother Earth is? Just Think!

How well are you using your body, mind and the spirit?
Life is a great opportunity! Living is a thrill! Work is a pleasure! There is a great thrill in striving for success! Be aware of the greatness of your body! Think of the power of your mind! Aim for success! Act with confidence! Achieve and enjoy the thrill of success!

ALL WITHIN THE HOUR

In the last one-hour, some 138 million cubic meters of water has flowed down the Ganga. The light that left sun and crossed us, here on Earth, some 52 minutes ago has reached a point 1,080 million kms from the sun. The Earth itself has traveled 1,07,244 kms along its orbit round the sun. Around its own axis, the Earth has covered 1,600 kms.

If you are an adult and for the last hour have not run or exercised, your heart has pumped 300 litres of blood, beating about 4,320 times. Meanwhile 83 tones or 83,000 kgs of cosmic dust has fallen on Earth and the average Indian consumed 86.25 calories worth of food. A Mach-1 plane flying steadily covered 1,061 kms.
